It’s in the chat
I am in a longtime group chat with women I’ve known for over 20 years, and a new thing is that it is actually making me actively dislike several of them.
I get it. I really do.
I’m no stranger to second guessing my sanity
Thoughts?
How does Gen X feel about their group chats? Boomers probably didn’t digitize their friendships during the (less delicious) rocky road that is your 30s, when life juts and jags in differing directions for each of us.
Given my penchant for disconnection from reality, I asked a few friends what do you think about this article?
“There’s something deeper here about the pressure to always be available and socially plugged in. We didn’t grow up like that, but now we’re just expected to manage constant digital conversation like it’s normal.”
"Honestly, this is so real. I’ve got like three group chats on mute and one I’ve basically ghosted — it’s just memes and baby pics now anyway. I love my friends, but I cannot emotionally process 147 messages about brunch."
